Well... i guess i better introduce myself and explain what this blog is used for...
My name is Tom and iv been playing 40k on and off for the best part of 10 years. I started playing during 3rd edition for a couple of years playing the Catachan Jungle Fighers (Oh the Traps and Ambushes...) once the supplement became obsolete, i decided to give it a break for a few years and study. On my last year of university, my girlfriend thought it would be a good idea for me to pick up a 5th Edition box set and get back into the hobby (Biiiiig mistake Emma!) so once i felt comfortable with the new changes, i had to choose an army that was a low model count so i could just keep in a small box and pull out when i can have a quick game (but i didn't stick to this incentive...) so Grey Knights being the newest army on display in my local hobby store and they just looked so awesome! So...grey knights where a no brainier for me, both aesthetically and practicality.
So i had a few games, surprisingly won a couple... but then i got invited to a local tournament... Oh i was excited but very nervous... I didn't go in with the intensive to win but i didn't want to suck either! So i hit the forums and some blogs on how to create a tournament list but this was only a 750 point day tournament which there wasn't really a great deal.... mainly because "real tournaments" *doing the bunny rabbit ears with my fingers* don't do 750 points.... although i could find this with ease on other armies which i did find a little odd at the time... Anyway long story short i surprisingly came 3rd out of around 9-10 people for me at the time for me was an amazing feeling because i at the time had only been playing for the best part of 2 months and playing guys who have said they have been playing since rogue trade era (well going on what they said there selves). So i knew i was on the right track and i realised I enjoyed the tournament aspect and that was what i enjoyed the most during 5th edition... and yes i know 750 is not competitive play, Grey Knights at the time was the new hot flavor that people were getting bummed about in 5th and the people there may not have hit forums to make a list but don't take this away from me ;)
So 6th edition is released, and personally loving the new rules (il chat a little more about this on another post) Got a lot of my friends on the plastic and between us. We enjoyed playing smaller/skirmish games but this made playing grey knights a little bland when playing the same lists just because i had little points to customise and change for other flavour. But then read a little more into the inquisitorial henchmen.... and wow, it was like a new door opened. There was so much customisation and different builds that i was running different lists every game and was loving the different styles of game play that you can have with this. So of course. When the Inquisition digital codex was released i was jumping to joy that i would not have to field Coteaz in every game (not that there's anything wrong with him!) So when im reading blogs about this codex...iv realised there is no real overall website that goes through this codex. I mean there is pages out there that goes threw every unit, mono builds and who to complimentary ally with.... But nothing that is living and breathing that comes with more innovative ideas as the meta changes or even fun and fluffy lists that you can have fun with using completely different strategy's. And i believe that's what this codex can do! There are so many fun/hardcore/cheesy lists that can be made that for some strange reason is not being put out on the internet for people to embrace! This does make it fun for your opponent knowing they going against something different every time you field your army and you as the player can enjoy creating these different armies to keep your opponents guessing when they are trying to create lists to beat your previous one.
So as you can see my main objective is to make this blog Grey Knight/Inquisition heavy. Coming up with new builds, doing a run down of all the units, showing what their strong/weak points are, an overview on how to beat armies, creating fluffy, fun and competitive lists and hearing your feedback, lists, and questions. I will try and reference any lists i do read including any good i read in the comments section as this will give a indication of any lists i create and where i can traffic readers to read other good blogs out there.
Well i think iv been chatting long enough, If you read all of my jargon, then I hope i didn't bore you too much chatting about me, myself and I think this is going to be an interesting journey ;)
